CNC Line Implements Emergency Fuel Surcharge for Intra-Asia Shipments

March 11, 2026 – CNC Line has announced the implementation of an Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS) for shipments within Asia, effective March 16, 2026. The surcharge is a direct response to a sharp increase in global fuel prices following the reopening of fuel markets on March 2, 2026, and ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Near and Middle East CNC Line, Container News.

Fuel Price Surge Drives Surcharge

The reopening of global fuel markets earlier this month was quickly followed by a surge in prices, largely attributed to instability in the Near and Middle East. This has significantly increased bunker costs – the fuel used by ocean-going vessels – impacting the overall cost of transportation CNC Line.

Surcharge Details

The Emergency Fuel Surcharge will be applied to shipments loading on or after March 16, 2026. The rates are as follows:

  • Dry Containers: USD 75 per TEU
  • Flat Rack / Open Top / Tank / Special Equipment: USD 75 per TEU
  • Reefer Containers: USD 90 per TEU
