Coast Guard Searches for Missing Fishing Vessel ‘Lily Jean’ off Massachusetts Coast
PORTLAND, MAINE – January 30, 2026 – The U.S. Coast Guard is currently conducting a search and rescue operation for the 72-foot fishing vessel “Lily Jean,” which went missing approximately 25 miles off the coast of Cape Ann, Massachusetts. An emergency alert was received at approximately 7:00 a.m. EST today.
Responding crews, utilizing both air and sea assets, have discovered debris and a lifeboat in the vicinity of the alert’s origin. Tragically, one body has also been recovered. The search for additional crew members continues.
As of this publication, the number of individuals aboard the “Lily Jean” remains unconfirmed. The Coast guard is actively working to determine the vessel’s crew manifest and gather information regarding potential passengers.
“Our priority is the search for survivors and providing support to any families affected by this incident,” stated a Coast Guard spokesperson. “We are utilizing all available resources to locate anyone who may still be missing.”
