Colter Wall Cancels Tour, Cites Mental Health Concerns

Colter Wall, the Canadian singer-songwriter known for his traditional country sound, has canceled the remainder of his 2026 Memories and Empties tour to focus on his mental health. The announcement was made on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, via Wall’s social media channels.

Indefinite Hiatus

In a statement posted online, Wall explained that he has been struggling with his mental health and, despite attempting to continue touring, his condition has worsened. “The truth is that I am mentally unwell,” he wrote. “Despite this, I have pushed myself to continue with touring. As a result my mental health has only further declined.” Automatic refunds will be issued to ticket holders from their original point of purchase.

The cancellation impacts the remaining four shows of the tour: two shows in Indianapolis, Indiana (March 12 and 13), and one each in Cincinnati, Ohio (March 13), and Detroit, Michigan (March 14).

A Reluctant Star

Wall gained prominence with his 2015 hit, “Sleeping on the Blacktop,” and has since released several critically acclaimed albums, including his self-titled debut in 2017 and 2023’s Little Songs. His most recent album, Memories and Empties, was released in November 2025.

Known for his gruff baritone voice and storytelling lyrics, Wall has often expressed a discomfort with the trappings of fame. In a December 2024 interview, he described awards shows as “probably the biggest waste of anybody’s time,” stating he simply “doesn’t care” for the attention and prefers to spend his time at his ranch in Saskatchewan [Whiskey Riff].

“Sleeping on the Blacktop” and its Popularity

“Sleeping on the Blacktop” remains one of Wall’s most popular songs, achieving platinum status and contributing significantly to his initial success [Reddit]. The song continues to resonate with fans and has been highlighted as a key track in his discography [Whiskey Riff].

Wall’s decision to prioritize his mental health reflects a growing awareness within the music industry regarding the pressures faced by artists. Parade reports that Wall is taking an indefinite hiatus from touring.
