An opposition push to remove Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has exposed sharp internal friction between the Congress party and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), with both groups trading public accusations over credit and political independence. As opposition parties coordinate nationwide demonstrations against the Election Commission, the underlying strategy divide has broken into the open through competing social media statements and local campaign disputes.

Rahul Gandhi Launches Satyagraha Platform Amid Opposition Protests

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a digital platform named “Satyagraha” to map protests and connect citizens fighting for rights across 28 states and eight Union Territories. By 5 pm Monday, the platform recorded 28,981 submissions, with education access leading concerns at 5,257 entries, followed by corruption at 5,138 and caste-based discrimination at 2,401. Simultaneously, civil society groups and opposition parties have staged protests demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged failures to maintain election commission independence. While opposition figures including Mamata Banerjee, Aaditya Thackeray, and leaders from the Samajwadi Party, Left, NCP (SP), and AAP have engaged with these movements, tensions have flared over who directs the momentum.

Das labeled critics within that ecosystem as “total buffoons” who should “zip it on us and focus on how to support the young.”

Despite claims of strict decentralization, the CJP’s rise through anti-NEET demonstrations has drawn repeated scrutiny regarding its political alignments.

Singh stated that Congress workers helped secure the release of Ranka and more than 40 volunteers after their detention by Assam Police in Guwahati. According to Singh, Ranka nevertheless refused to meet Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi because the Aam Aadmi Party had instructed the group to keep its distance.
