Ryan’s SuperValu Togher Crowned Ireland’s National SuperValu Store of the Year 2026

Ryan’s SuperValu in Togher, Cork, has been awarded the title of ‘National SuperValu Store of the Year’ for 2026, recognizing its “exceptional performance across food leadership, customer service and community engagement.” The store also received the ‘Best Large Store of the Year’ award at the SuperValu National Conference this week.

A Legacy of Community Focus

Liam Ryan, owner of the Togher SuperValu, has been at the helm of the store for over 34 years. He attributed the success to the dedication of his team, stating, “This award is a testament to every single person in our store, who brings passion, pride and commitment to their perform every day. Our team goes above and beyond for our customers, and that’s what makes the difference – the friendly faces, the care for quality food and the genuine connection we have with the Togher community.”

Recent Store Revamp

The Togher store underwent a significant revamp in late 2023, featuring modern deli and fishmonger counters, an expanded bakery range, and an in-store café. MSN reports that independent retail consultant Paul Ellison, the competition judge, commended Ryan’s SuperValu for its support of local clubs and charities.

Other Cork Winners

Ryan’s SuperValu wasn’t the only Cork store recognized at the awards. Scally’s SuperValu in Clonakilty won ‘Best Excellence in Fresh Food’, and Riordan’s SuperValu in Fermoy received the ‘Best Community and Sustainability Award’.

Ryan Group Expansion

Ryan’s SuperValu Group operates four SuperValu stores in Togher, Glanmire, Grange, and Kilmallock. The group also operates a Centra store in Aherla. Liam Ryan first took ownership of the Togher store in 1991. Ryan Group has a long-standing commitment to supporting local communities through sponsorships and charitable contributions.
