Corvus Energy Partners With Servintel to Service Argentine Marine Battery Fleet
Corvus Energy has partnered with Argentine naval electrical solutions company Servintel to provide local technical support, post-sales service, and equipment maintenance for marine energy storage systems across Argentina. The agreement establishes a regional service framework to handle complex battery-powered vessels, addressing an expanding South American fleet that now includes the world’s largest fully electric ferry.
The partnership combines Corvus Energy’s global expertise in marine battery technology, remote monitoring, and predictive analytics with Servintel’s field operations and integration capabilities. According to the companies, the collaboration is designed to deliver faster response times, technical training, and customized engineering support for operators navigating regional waters.
Servintel Brings Decades of Naval Electrical Experience to Buenos Aires Operations
Headquartered in Buenos Aires, Servintel brings decades of operational history to the agreement. Founded in 1979, the company delivers electrical and electronic solutions for demanding naval and industrial markets, specializing in marine electrical systems integration, automation, control systems, and energy management. A multidisciplinary team of experienced professionals handles field operations and post-sales maintenance.

The service provider maintains a long-standing relationship with regional vessel operators. Buquebus has been a Servintel client for more than 30 years, relying on the firm for ongoing maintenance and technical support across its fleet. That established local footprint positions Servintel to manage complex marine energy systems in a market where large-scale electrification is still developing compared to Northern Europe.
China Zorrilla Ferry Drives Regional Service Expansion
The primary catalyst for expanding Corvus Energy’s local service capacity is the deployment of the China Zorrilla, a ferry built by Incat Tasmania for Buquebus that entered service on October 22. Operating across the Río de la Plata to connect Argentina and Uruguay, the vessel is powered by a 40 megawatt-hour energy storage system supplied by Corvus Energy.
The marine battery installation is approximately four times larger than any previous maritime installation. As the world’s largest 100% electric ship with zero direct emissions during navigation, the ferry requires specialized, continuous lifecycle maintenance. Tor-Gunnar Hovig, Head of Region-Americas for Corvus Energy, noted that comprehensive support—including technical training for operators, remote monitoring, and proactive maintenance—directly impacts system performance and operating lifetime.
Executive Perspectives on Regional Electrification
Both companies view the agreement as a foundation for broader maritime decarbonization in South America. Fernando Carballo, CEO of Servintel, stated that the partnership strengthens local capabilities in Argentina while building a regional service platform to support the next generation of electrified vessels. Through the collaboration, technical teams will work closely with Corvus Energy to maintain strict standards in system performance, maintenance, and operational reliability.
Corvus Energy continues to build an integrated global service ecosystem that merges traditional technical support with advanced digital tools. By embedding local-based service partners like Servintel into that network, the company aims to support vessel operators through every stage of their battery systems’ operational lifecycles.
