Central Philippine University Students Embark on International Internship in Jakarta

Two preservice teachers from Central Philippine University (CPU) have begun a three-month internship at Global Prestasi School in Jakarta, Indonesia, as part of an ongoing collaboration between CPU and Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI). The internship, which commenced in February 2026 and will conclude in May 2026, aims to provide practical experience for future educators in an international setting.

Partnership and Program Details

The collaboration between CPU and UKI continues to expand, with UKI introducing Global Prestasi School as a new partner for the deployment of preservice teachers. Global Prestasi School is an international school in East Jakarta offering programs from pre-kindergarten through Grade 12. The school utilizes the Kurikulum Nasional (National Curriculum) and the Cambridge Curriculum, alongside the Montessori approach for early childhood education.

Internship Participants

The two CPU College of Education students participating in the internship are Shanine Joy Peniero, a Bachelor of Science in Education (BSED) major in English, and Marvilou Jean Cudo, a BSED major in Mathematics. They were welcomed during a ceremony on February 23, 2026, attended by principals, teachers, and staff from Global Prestasi School.

Support and Collaboration

Asst. Prof. Maristel D. Decio, coordinator for the Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP) of the CPU College of Education, accompanied the students and participated in the welcoming ceremony. She expressed gratitude for the continued partnership between CPU and UKI and anticipated a successful internship experience for the students. Dr. Benedicta Stella Fortunae, head of the Universitas Kristen Indonesia International Office, also attended the ceremony, which was followed by a campus tour and meetings with school staff.

Future Collaboration

Both Central Philippine University and Universitas Kristen Indonesia have expressed their commitment to continuing the international internship collaboration in the coming academic years.
