American Township Developer Invests in North Cable Road Commercial Properties

AMERICAN TOWNSHIP – A former Crawfords Furniture store and a 30-acre lot on North Cable Road in American Township have been purchased by local developer Nate Mailhot, signaling a planned revitalization of the area for commercial use. The purchase, completed this month, aims to bring new businesses and opportunities to the township.

Property Acquisition and Renovation Plans

Nate Mailhot acquired the property from descendants of Jane and Thomas Crawford for $325,000 . He has already initiated a demolition phase, clearing brush and a vacant home from the 30-acre lot to prepare for renovations. The primary focus will be on the 13,000 square-foot former furniture store and the adjacent 6,400 square-foot commercial property.

Mailhot intends to rent out the renovated spaces to local businesses, fostering economic growth within American Township. He is also considering selling the remaining 27 acres to another developer for potential residential development .

Developer’s Track Record of Redevelopment

Nate Mailhot has a demonstrated history of successfully redeveloping vacant properties in both Elida and American Township. His recent projects include the renovation of the former Elida Town Hall, which now houses Story Room bookstore, Amazing Balloon Creations, and the Locker Room athletic wear shop. The Village Coffee House, serving Italian ice and Boston Stoker coffee, is slated to open in April .

Mailhot also brought the Peach Loft pilates studio and a karate studio to Elida, along with a mobile coffee trailer and the Whiskers and Wizards gift shop and game lounge . Other developments include Edward Jones, Shed Solutions, Schaefer Auto Detail, Burbach Performance, Nate’s car lot and Pro Creation Construction.

Commitment to Township Growth

“It’s what needs to be done,” Mailhot stated. “We need to clean up and obtain new business in there, so I’m investing in the township.”

Mailhot’s Political Aspirations

Nate Mailhot is also running for American Township Trustee, seeking to bring a “fresh perspective” to the community . His campaign, empowered by GoodParty.org, focuses on growing families, local businesses, and addressing housing shortages . As a nonpartisan candidate, Mailhot pledges independence, people-powered funding, anti-corruption measures, and civility in his campaign .
