Crimson Desert Console Technical Specifications and Performance Modes

Pearl Abyss is set to release Crimson Desert on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on March 19, 2026. Ahead of launch, detailed technical specifications and performance modes for the console versions have been revealed, offering players insight into the visual fidelity and frame rate options available.

PS5 and Xbox Series X Performance Breakdown

Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X utilize the same system setup for their three primary graphical modes. Players will demand displays compatible with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) using an HDMI 2.1 cable to experience games without frame rate limitations.

  • Performance Mode: Runs at 1080p resolution with a frame rate of 60 FPS. VRR-compatible displays allow for uncapped frame rates. Ray tracing is set to Low.
  • Balanced Mode: Upscales from a native 1280p resolution to 4K using FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR 3). Operates at 40 FPS and requires a 120Hz or 240Hz display.
  • Quality Mode: Upscales from a native 1440p resolution to 4K. Locks at 30 FPS but enhances ray tracing settings to High.

PlayStation 5 Pro Enhanced Features

The PlayStation 5 Pro offers significant visual improvements and higher native resolutions compared to the standard PlayStation 5. All Pro modes utilize High or Ultra ray tracing settings.

  • Pro Performance: Upscales from a native 1080p resolution to 4K using PlayStation Spectral Illumination Reconstructor (PSSR), operating at 60 FPS with an option for uncapped frame rates. Ray tracing remains on High.
  • Pro Balanced: Upscales content from 1440p to 4K. Operates in VRR mode, achieving frame rates exceeding 48 FPS. Ray tracing is set to High.
  • Pro Quality: Outputs a 4K resolution image at 30 frames per second. This preset is the only option providing access to Ultra ray tracing settings.

Xbox Series S Limitations

Due to hardware limitations, the Xbox Series S is restricted in its resolution and frame rate capabilities. Ray tracing is not supported across any gameplay mode.

  • Performance: Runs at a resolution of 720p, reaching a maximum frame rate of 40 FPS.
  • Quality: Increases the resolution to 1080p but limits the frame rate to 30 FPS.

Handheld and Mac Support

Pearl Abyss has confirmed support for Mac computers and the ROG Ally handheld. The ROG Ally X is expected to deliver high performance due to its specific graphical settings. While minimum PC requirements have been released, details regarding Steam Deck optimization remain unconfirmed, potentially leading to performance issues on that platform. Pearl Abyss announced that Crimson Desert has gone gold, marking a major milestone ahead of its global launch. Crimson Desert is an open-world action-adventure game set in the continent of Pywel, where players take on the role of the Greymane Kliff. The game will also be available on NVIDIA GeForce NOW.
