Cristian Mungiu Wins Palme d’Or at 79th Cannes Film Festival with ‘Fjord’, Intense Family Drama Set in Norway Starring Sebastian Stan and Renate Reinsve. For the Romanian Director, This Marks His Second Palme d’Or Following the 2007 Win for ‘4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days’.

The elements to understand the direction in which the world is heading are all before our eyes. Societies today are fractured and radicalized. This film is also a commitment against all forms of fundamentalism,” Mungiu stated upon accepting the Palme d’Or.
