Cuenca Mobile Library Visits Isaac Albéniz School
About 120 preschool students at CEIP Isaac Albéniz in Cuenca stepped inside a traveling mobile library on Friday as part of early literacy outreach ahead of Library Day, Las Noticias de Cuenca reported. The mobile unit parked at the school to show children aged three to five that books can reach any location on wheels.
During the visit, children explored different areas of the vehicle, viewing books, films, and compact discs. The mobile library featured special decorations for Halloween.
Mobile Libraries Serve 102 Municipalities in Castilla-La Mancha
Yolanda Rozalén, culture coordinator for the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha in Cuenca, noted that while the service primarily operates in rural areas, bringing the vehicle to the city proved successful. “It’s the first time we’ve done this and I think it has been a complete success,” Rozalén said.
Cuenca’s two mobile libraries serve 102 municipalities and travel more than 6,000 kilometers to provide reading and cultural access to small towns without fixed libraries. Rozalén praised the drivers and library staff for providing personalized attention to users. “They make custom suits,” she said regarding how staff match readers with books.

CEIP Isaac Albéniz Plans to Expand Mobile Library Visits
Juan Carlos Sánchez, director of CEIP Isaac Albéniz, welcomed the visit for introducing students to a service many had not previously seen. The school collaborated with the school’s librarian, Rosa, to organize the initial contact.
School administrators plan to expand the experience to primary school students in future visits. Arancha Ruiz, a technician for the mobile service, stated that the goal is to guarantee cultural access in small towns, adding that the job is rewarding because regular users rarely miss a visit. The mobile unit currently runs eight monthly reading clubs that continue to grow in participation.
