Cupra Born Receives Significant Update for 2026, Boosting Range and Technology
Cupra’s first all-electric model, the Born, has undergone a comprehensive refresh for 2026, enhancing its design, performance, and technology. Production is slated to start in the spring of 2026, with deliveries to Latvia expected in the summer.
Exterior Design Enhancements
The updated CUPRA Born features a redesigned front finish aligned with the brand’s new “shark nose” design direction. New front and rear bumpers, coupled with triangular Matrix LED headlights, contribute to a sharper and more dynamic appearance. A 3D light bar and illuminated CUPRA logo at the rear further emphasize the car’s sporty character and premium perceive.
Refined Interior with Sustainable Materials
Inside, the Born boasts a higher quality feel with redesigned door panels and a new steering wheel featuring physical buttons for intuitive control. A larger 12.9-inch infotainment screen powered by an Android-based operating system provides clearer information and a modern aesthetic. Sustainability is also a key focus, with 75% of the panel plastics made from recycled materials, SEAQUAL yarn used in seat side parts, and Dinamica® trim consisting of 73% recycled content.
Performance and Driving Experience Upgrades
The CUPRA Born VZ, the most powerful version, delivers up to 240 kW (326 hp) and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. It offers a range of up to 600 km (WLTP). Improvements to the driving experience include an enhanced cabin sound system, Launch Control, One Pedal Driving for urban environments, and wider tires (available in 19 and 20-inch sizes) for increased stability. Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC Sport) provides up to 15 adjustment levels and five driver profiles.
Powertrain Options and Range
CUPRA Born is available with three powertrain and battery combinations:
- VZ (240 kW / 79 kWh): Up to 600 km range.
- Endurance (170 kW / 79 kWh): Up to 600 km range.
- Born Plus (140 kW / 58 kWh): Approximately 450 km range.
Advanced Technology and Safety Features
The new Born incorporates advanced safety technologies, including improved Travel Assist, Crossroad Assist, Front Assist, and a Pre-Crash system. A new Augmented Reality Display (HUD) projects key information onto the windshield, minimizing driver distraction. The vehicle also features illuminated door handles, new rear passenger air vents, and a tow bar compatible with bike racks. Mobile Device Key functionality allows for smartphone-based unlocking and starting, while Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability enables powering external devices.
