A Houston woman, Justine Saint Amour, is suing Tesla for over $1 million after her Cybertruck allegedly operating on “Full Self-Driving” mode crashed into a concrete barrier on the Eastex Freeway near Humble, Texas. The incident, which occurred on August 18, 2025, resulted in serious injuries to Saint Amour while her 1-year-old child was in the vehicle.

Details of the Crash

According to court records and statements from attorney Bob Hilliard, Saint Amour was driving on the Eastex Freeway when the Cybertruck, reportedly in full self-driving mode, veered toward a concrete barrier. Hilliard stated that Saint Amour attempted to disengage the system, but the intervention came too late to prevent the crash. Lawsuit Alleges Misleading Marketing

The lawsuit, filed in February 2026, criticizes Tesla’s marketing of its “Full Self-Driving” (FSD) technology as misleading. Hilliard argues that despite the name and associated premium cost, the technology is classified as SAE Level 2, meaning it is a driver-assist system and not fully autonomous.
