Da Costa Celebrates Dream Madrid E-Prix Victory in Front of Family

Antonio Felix da Costa of Jaguar TCS Racing secured a momentous victory at the 2026 CUPRA Raval Madrid E-Prix, marking his 14th career win in Formula E and his second consecutive triumph after his win in Jeddah. The race, held on March 22, 2026, at the Circuito del Jarama, was particularly special for da Costa as he celebrated the win surrounded by family and friends, including a visit from King Felipe VI of Spain.

Strategic Masterclass at Circuito del Jarama

Da Costa, starting in third position, expertly utilized the Pit Boost strategy, making his pit stop on Lap 12. He then strategically deployed Attack Mode late in the race, maintaining pace with the leaders as other drivers completed their pit stops. This tactical approach allowed him to grab the lead and ultimately cross the finish line first.

Emotional Victory with Family Support

The win held significant emotional weight for da Costa, who expressed his joy at sharing the moment with his loved ones. “Honestly, it’s a dream day,” da Costa stated after the race. “To win in front of so much of my family…they see me leave the house and come back, sometimes happy, sometimes sad…but they were here today. They don’t receive to see me race and to do it in front of them is just amazing.” He further shared his excitement on Instagram, celebrating with his supporters in what he termed the “DAC SHACK,” a hospitality area hosting over 80 friends and family who traveled from Lisbon.

Teammate Evans and Competitors

Mitch Evans, da Costa’s teammate at Jaguar TCS Racing, finished closely behind, while Dan Ticktum of Cupra Kiro and Pascal Wehrlein of Porsche also mounted strong challenges. Evans noted the demanding nature of the track, describing it as “old school” and a “real challenge” for drivers.

Driver Reactions and Race Highlights

Pascal Wehrlein praised the event, noting the impressive turnout despite the challenging weather conditions. Nick Cassidy of Envision Racing celebrated a successful start to the season, having already achieved a win, a podium finish, and a pole position in the first six races. Cassidy also acknowledged a late-race incident with Norman Nato, resulting in damage to his front wheel.
