Daegu Health University Partners with Senior Welfare Association to Train Integrated Care Workers
Daegu Health University has entered into an agreement with the Daegu Home Senior Welfare Association to provide specialized training for integrated care workers and living support personnel. The collaboration aims to enhance the quality of home welfare services and support the implementation of South Korea’s Act on Integrated Support for Local Care, including Medical and Nursing, which took effect on March 27th.
Partnership Details and Training Program
The agreement was formalized on March 23rd, 2026, in a signing ceremony attended by officials from both organizations, including Executive Vice President Kim Young-jun and Vice President of Business Administration Kim Young-geun from Daegu Health University, and Daegu Home Senior Welfare Association President Kim Sam-hwa. Daegu Health University, recently selected as a “Glocal University 30” by the Ministry of Education, will leverage its faculty and educational infrastructure to deliver customized training programs.
The initial training program, part of the RISE project, is scheduled to begin on June 17th and will focus on approximately 1,000 social workers and life support workers from around 40 organizations in the Daegu region. The curriculum will be tailored to specific job roles, ensuring relevant and practical skills development.
Strengthening Local Integrated Care Systems
Kim Young-jun, Vice President of Daegu Health University, emphasized the university’s commitment to supporting the establishment of stable integrated care systems in the region through systematic education. He also highlighted the importance of ongoing collaboration between the two organizations to improve elderly healthcare and enhance the overall quality of senior welfare services. Daegu Health University’s selection as a “Glocal University” underscores its growing reputation as a leading health-specialized institution in Korea.
Expanding Industry-Academia Cooperation
This partnership represents an expansion of industry-academia cooperation, aligning with the goals of the Act on Integrated Support for Local Care, including Medical, and Nursing. The collaboration seeks to address the increasing demand for qualified integrated care workers and living support personnel as South Korea’s population ages. Daegu Cyber University also demonstrates a commitment to community welfare through similar partnerships, such as its agreement with seven home care senior welfare centers in Dalseo-gu.
