Actor Damson Idris has been appointed as a Global Brand Ambassador for Formula 1, building on his recent role in the hit movie F1: The Movie. The partnership aims to connect the worlds of motorsport and global entertainment, attracting a new wave of fans to the sport.

From Screen to the Paddock

Idris starred as Joshua Pearce in F1: The Movie, which grossed over $630 million worldwide, becoming the most successful sports movie of all time. Filming took place at actual Grand Prix events, immersing Idris in the F1 environment alongside teams, drivers, and race operations. He underwent extensive training for the role, developing a genuine passion for the sport. Behind-the-scenes footage shows Idris and Brad Pitt actively driving during filming.

F1’s Vision for Growth

Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of F1, welcomed Idris to the F1 family, emphasizing the importance of authenticity and shared vision for the sport’s growth. “Following his starring role in F1 The Movie, which made history at the box office and helped bring our sport to new audiences, he is joining us as an official Global Brand Ambassador,” Domenicali stated. The Hollywood Reporter detailed the efforts made to ensure the film’s accuracy, including allowing Pitt and Idris to drive at speeds up to 180 mph.
