Davina McCall Reveals Cardiovascular Disease Diagnosis Following Cancer and Brain Tumour Battles
TV presenter Davina McCall revealed she has cardiovascular disease, adding the diagnosis to recent medical battles that included breast cancer and a brain tumour. The 59-year-old former Big Brother host shared the health update on her Begin Again podcast, urging women to pay closer attention to their heart health.
I wanted to let you know, I also have cardiovascular disease, and this is a very important conversation to have,
McCall said during the episode. Speaking to heart attack survivor Louise McGill in a recording released in partnership with the British Heart Foundation, McCall reflected on how previous health challenges altered her perspective on mortality. Anyone can get sick and when I had my cancer experience, you just suddenly feel vulnerable in a way you weren’t before,
she noted. Once you’ve been ill, you think ‘Oh, I thought I was invincible.’
High Cholesterol Warning Signs Preceding the Diagnosis
McCall disclosed that she experienced high cholesterol for a prolonged period before receiving her cardiovascular disease diagnosis. I had high cholesterol and had it for quite a long time,
she said, explaining that medical assessments previously suggested good cholesterol levels offset the bad cholesterol. The presenter used the podcast platform to advise other women against dismissing potential warning signals, particularly in the years following the menopause.
Heart attacks and cardiovascular disease is rife out there particular in women post menopause,
McCall stated. If there’s one takeaway today it’s not to brush things off.
Cardiovascular disease is a general term for conditions affecting the heart and blood vessels. High cholesterol is among the factors that can increase the risk of developing the disease.
Previous Health Challenges and Medical Clearances
The cardiovascular diagnosis follows a series of major health events for the broadcaster over recent years. In April, McCall announced that she received the all-clear from breast cancer following a diagnosis in October 2025 that required surgery to remove a lump and subsequent radiotherapy. Prior to that diagnosis, in November 2024, she underwent surgery to remove a benign brain tumour classified as a colloid cyst. Alongside her television career hosting programmes such as Long Lost Family and The Masked Singer, McCall has established herself as a vocal advocate for women’s health issues, focusing extensively on menopause awareness.
