DC’s 2026 Pride Lineup: Justice League Dream Girls and More

DC Comics is set to celebrate LGBTQIA+ fans and characters with a robust publishing initiative in 2026, anchored by the four-issue miniseries Justice League: Dream Girls – A DC Pride Event. This event builds upon five years of DC Pride initiatives, aiming to spotlight queer characters and launch new storylines within the DC Universe continuity.

Justice League: Dream Girls – A DC Pride Event

Justice League: Dream Girls – A DC Pride Event, co-written by Jadzia Axelrod and Nicole Maines, will feature an all-star roster of artists including Nicola Scott, J. Bone, Brandt&Stein, Stephen Sadowski, Vincent Cecil, and Mikel Janín. The story begins with Galaxy and Dreamer awakening on Themyscira, seemingly living a perfect life, but quickly discovering something is amiss. The Key, a Justice League villain, is manipulating their reality, offering Dreamer an idealized version of her life.

The series will explore emotional stakes, including Dreamer questioning her future as a hero, Galaxy striving to prove her place within the Justice League, and the strain on their friendship as they navigate illusion and doubt. According to Maines, the series will deliver “a lot of the nuance and grit that we are not always afforded the ability or space to explore with our queer characters.” Axelrod added that the story explores what happens when Galaxy is offered a life without struggle.

Each issue of Dream Girls will include backup stories featuring Batwoman (issue #1), Green Lantern Corps (issue #2), Poison Ivy (issue #3), and a personal story by Klaus Janson (issue #4). These stories connect to larger 2026 publishing plans, including Batwoman’s Next Level series and Poison Ivy’s role in the upcoming Bad Seeds event.

Building to Dream Girls: Interconnected Releases

The narrative leading to Justice League: Dream Girls unfolds across three interconnected releases:

  • Justice League Intergalactic Special #1 (April 29, 2026): Co-written by Axelrod and Maines, this one-shot features Star Sapphire assembling a League squad for a mission in deep space, marking the first team-up between Dreamer and Galaxy in DC’s mainline continuity. The story centers on a cosmic crisis involving the Witch Queen and the dream energy of Naltor.
  • Galaxy: As the World Falls Down (May 5, 2026): The sequel to the YA graphic novel Galaxy: The Prettiest Star, written by Axelrod with art by Rye Hickman, follows Taylor Barzelay as she faces the threat of the Vane while navigating identity, friendship, and life after coming out.
  • Justice League: Dream Girls – A DC Pride Event (June 2026): The four-issue miniseries that serves as the culmination of these storylines.

DC Pride 2026: A Broader Celebration

Beyond Justice League: Dream Girls, DC Pride 2026 includes:

  • YA Graphic Novels: Expanding on the universe established in Galaxy: As the World Falls Down.
  • Variant Covers: Featuring LGBTQIA+ heroes like Batwoman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy across DC’s monthly titles.
  • DC Pride: The Heart Wants: A hardcover collection featuring stories from the 2025 Pride one-shot alongside new material.

DC editor Andrea Shea emphasized that DC Pride 2026 represents “the culmination of the last five years—what we’ve always been building toward: a series of stories that take place in the heart of DC continuity and serve as the next chapters for some of our most beloved characters.”
