Decathlon to Launch First Cork Store in Tesco Douglas This Summer
Global sports retailer Decathlon is set to open its first store in Cork this summer, operating within the existing Tesco at Douglas Village Shopping Centre. The expansion marks a significant investment by Tesco and represents Decathlon’s fourth location in Ireland.

Tesco Douglas will undergo a multimillion-euro renovation to accommodate the new Decathlon store, which will occupy over 2,300 square meters of sales space. The opening is scheduled for later this summer, according to announcements made on March 19, 2026 Waterford News and Irish Examiner.
Responding to Customer Demand
Decathlon’s decision to open a Cork location is a direct response to demand from local customers, who have long advocated for a physical store in the county Waterford News. Currently, Irish customers have primarily relied on online orders or visits to Decathlon stores in Dublin and Limerick.

The Cork store will offer a curated selection of thousands of products spanning various sports and activities, including football, running, hiking, swimming, cycling, and team sports.
