Delft Man Curtis Kleinhans Fatally Assaulted, Wife Expecting Their Fourth Child

A 33-year-old man, Curtis Kleinhans, was fatally assaulted on February 6, 2026, in Delft, South Africa, leaving behind his pregnant wife and three daughters. The incident occurred outside his home after Kleinhans had reportedly received death threats.

Details of the Attack

According to Stephanie-Anne Kleinhans, 32, her husband was sitting with a neighbor in a car two houses from their home on Rhoodehek Street, Voorbrug, when three men approached. She recounted witnessing the attack, stating the men pulled her husband from the car and began beating him. Kleinhans died at the scene from his injuries, which included a broken back and a rib that pierced his heart.

Stephanie-Anne Kleinhans stated that the attack stemmed from a previous argument with a man who lived nearby, who had threatened her husband, saying, “Jy moet pasop, jy gaan nog eendag vrek en ek gaan sorg jy gaan vrek” (translated as “You must be careful, you will die one day and I will make sure you die”).

She explained that her brother-in-law and she attempted to intervene, but were warned by Curtis to stay back to protect them and their unborn child. The attackers reportedly threatened the family, saying, “we are all going to die.”

Community and Police Response

Neighbors described Curtis Kleinhans as a kind and helpful man. Zainab Davids, a neighbor, stated he was known for assisting others, including her mother who uses a wheelchair.

Police confirmed the incident and the arrest of a 33-year-old suspect on February 9, 2026, who appeared in Bellville Magistrate’s Court. Constable Ndakhe Gwala stated that a case of murder was registered and the circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation. The suspect was scheduled to make a second appearance in court on February 18, 2026, for a bail application.
