Denison Baseball Sweeps Rose Hulman, Eyes Upcoming Game Against Adrian College

The No. 3 Denison University Big Red baseball team secured a doubleheader sweep against Rose Hulman Institute of Technology on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana. The team now prepares to face Adrian College on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the Midwest Classic hosted by North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.

Game 1: Denison 12, Rose Hulman 1

Denison took an early lead in the first game, scoring quickly with a triple from Jack Lutte and a subsequent RBI groundout from Erik Sundgren. The Big Red extended their lead to 5-0 in the second inning with a two-RBI hit from Cooper Marrs and further capitalized on Rose Hulman errors. They continued their offensive momentum in the third, adding three more runs with an RBI triple from Andrew Fazio and a sacrifice fly from Lutte.

Will Rettig started on the mound for Denison, recording strikeouts and benefiting from a crucial 7-5-2 relay play to prevent a run. Andrew Montero finished the game, striking out six consecutive batters and allowing only one run in two innings. Denison forced five errors from Rose Hulman throughout the game. Fazio led the team at the plate, going 2-for-2 with four RBIs, while Lutte went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple.

Game 2: Denison 5, Rose Hulman 0

The second game remained scoreless through the first four innings. Denison broke the tie in the fifth inning with a two-run home run from Bobby Haarde and a three-run triple from Jack Rollo. Robbie Lee started on the mound for Denison, pitching five scoreless innings before handing over to Devin Parker, who secured the shutout with three more scoreless innings and a total of six strikeouts.

Sundgren recorded two hits, while Haarde and Rollo each contributed two RBIs. The Denison defense was flawless, committing zero errors. Lee and Parker combined for 13 strikeouts and allowed only six hits.
