Dear Colleagues,
Electric machines are a key enabling technology for the electrification of transport, energy systems, robotics and industrial automation. The growing need for greater efficiency, power density, reliability and sustainability are driving advances in machine design, materials, control strategies and monitoring concepts.
This Special Issue aims to provide a focused platform for recent research on advanced electric machine systems, covering design, control and condition monitoring. This includes innovative machine topologies, as well as high-efficiency, high-power-density solutions, and rare-earth-free or reduced machine concepts. Contributions addressing additive manufacturing, advanced materials, and electromagnetic, thermal, and multi-physics optimisation are also welcome.
Beyond machine design, this Special Issue places strong emphasis on control and monitoring methodologies. Topics of interest include condition monitoring, fault diagnosis, and fault-tolerant control strategies for ensuring reliable operation in demanding and safety-critical applications. Additionally, data-driven and machine learning-based methods for control, monitoring and robust machine design are explicitly encouraged.
Original research and review articles presenting theoretical developments, numerical modelling, experimental validation and practical applications that advance the state of the art in the design, control and monitoring of electric machines are welcomed.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electricity is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript.
The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1200 CHF (Swiss Francs).
Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI’s
English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
This special issue is now open for submission.
