Contributed to the development of local music, including expanding the base of classical music and realizing the social value of art

Kim So-hyung, Dean of Dong-eui University‘s College of Art, Design and Physical Education, received the ‘2025 Korean Music Award’.

Dongeui University’s Dean of the College of Art, Design, and Physical Education Kim So-hyung (Professor of the Department of Music and Graduate School of Art Therapy) was selected as the winner of the Music Category Achievement Award at the ‘2025 Korean Music Awards’, a prestigious award in the Korean music industry, and was honored at the awards ceremony held at the Korea Broadcasting Center on January 30.

‘The Korean Music Awards’, hosted by the Korean Music Association, is one of the most honorable awards in the Korean music industry that has been recognized and awarded every year to musicians who have made remarkable contributions to the development of the domestic and international music industry since its establishment in 1979.

Professor Sohyung Kim has contributed to expanding the base of classical music and adding artistic depth by giving active invited recitals in various parts of the country, including Seoul, Busan, Daegu, and Jinju, including the invitational recital at the Institute of Korean Studies in Hawaii, USA.

In particular, Professor Kim, as the first doctor of integrated art therapy, was highly praised for not only focusing on academic achievements but also actively applying them to the field.

In addition, Professor Kim is setting an example as an educator and artist by visiting hospice wards and welfare centers every month with his students in the Department of Music and the Graduate School of Art Therapy, practicing music healing services, realizing the social value of art and contributing to the welfare of the local community.


Professor Kim So-hyung said, “I want to share the joy with my students who not only participated in my activities as a musician, but also in the process of sharing the healing power of music. I will continue to serve as a bridge between the art field and the healing field.”
