Detroit Commercial Casinos Report $102.68 million in June Revenue

The figure includes $101.84 million from slot machines and table games, while retail sports betting contributed $836,063 in qualified adjusted gross revenue (QAGR).

MGM Grand Detroit continues to lead the city’s gaming market, holding a 47% share of total revenue. MotorCity Casino follows with 31%, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown holds 22%.

Individual operator performance for June showed mixed results compared to the previous year:

  • MGM Grand Detroit: Reported $47.61 million in revenue, a 1.7% decrease from June 2025.
  • MotorCity Casino: Earned $31.81 million, marking a 3.9% increase.
  • Hollywood Casino at Greektown: Recorded $22.42 million, a 5.2% rise.

While the sector saw a 1.5% increase in table and slot revenue compared to June 2025, there was a 10.1% dip relative to May 2026. Despite the monthly fluctuation, the industry recorded a 1.3% year-over-year growth for the first half of the year.

Tax Contributions to State and City

Gaming operations provided significant funding to government entities in June. The three casinos paid $8.2 million in gaming taxes to the State of Michigan, slightly higher than the $8.1 million paid in June 2025.

The City of Detroit received $12.1 million, which consists of wagering taxes and contributions mandated by development agreements.

Retail Sports Betting and Fantasy Contests

Retail sports wagering showed strong growth in June. Total handle reached $6.38 million, with gross winnings at $837,681. The qualified adjusted gross revenue (QAGR) grew 25.6% over June 2025 and 7% over May 2026.

MotorCity Casino led the retail sports segment with a QAGR of $337,035, followed by MGM Grand Detroit at $295,756 and Hollywood Casino at Greektown at $203,272. This activity generated $31,603 for the state and $38,626 for the City of Detroit.

Additionally, operators reported adjusted revenues of $569,264 for fantasy contests during May 2026, resulting in $47,818 in tax payments.
