Devon Bennett Appointed Chief Nursing Officer at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst

NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst has appointed Devon A. Bennett, MSN, RN, CENP, LSSGB, as its modern Chief Nursing Officer, effective February 2, 2026. Bennett will oversee a staff of over 1,800 nurses and ancillary personnel at the hospital, one of the largest in New York City with 545 inpatient beds .

Leadership and Experience

Bennett brings extensive experience in nursing leadership to his new role. Prior to joining NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, he served as Associate Chief Nursing Officer at SUNY Downstate Medical Center . He previously held the position of Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring, Maryland, where he led over 750 nursing professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic .
