Soroka, 28, is signing his second free-agent contract.Last offseason, he signed a one-year, $9MM deal with the Nationals after a arduous year with the White sox. He struggled as a starter but pitched well as a reliever. Washington used Soroka as a starter in 2025 and later traded him to the Cubs. He finished with a 4.52 ERA in 89 2/3 innings (17 starts, 6 relief appearances) and showed promising stats: a 25.1% strikeout rate, a 7.7% walk rate, and a 44.1% ground-ball rate.
