Die Toten Hosen Launch Farewell Tour With Surprise Buenos Aires Show

German punk rock band Die Toten Hosen kicked off their farewell tour of Argentina with an unannounced performance at Vorterix in Buenos Aires, playing 33 songs to a sold-out crowd that secured tickets within minutes of the sudden announcement, lanacion.com.ar reported. The group, fronted by singer Campino, is staging a series of final concerts before deciding to retire from recording and live touring to protect their legacy.

Tickets for the sudden show vanished in record time, reflecting a 34-year history of packed venues across Argentina ranging from Obras to intimate rooms. The setlist spanned fast-paced punk anthems and melodic numbers, including a collaboration with Argentine punk band 2 Minutos on their track “Ya no sos igual.”

Los Tito Del Once Invite 2 Minutos to Open

For this surprise concert, the band adopted the phonetic alter ego Los Tito del Once, a moniker bestowed by Ruso Verea during one of their early visits. Setting a high bar for themselves, the headliners invited 2 Minutos to open the evening. Fronted by Mosca, the supporting act delivered a rapid-fire succession of hits including “Tema de Adrián”, “Canción de amor”, and “Como caramelo de limón”, alongside Argentine punk favorites “Arrebato” and “Otra mujer”, all performed with surprising precision that highlighted the group’s excellent current form.

Tribute Performances and Language Barriers at Vorterix

Despite performing primarily in German and English, the band connected immediately with a crowd that shouted out lyrics regardless of language barriers. Frontman Campino noted during the performance that the group visited the grave of late Los Violadores leader Pil earlier that afternoon.

Die Toten Hosen honored Argentine punk history by covering Los Violadores track “Uno, dos, ultraviolento” and Attaque 77’s “Donde las águilas se atreven.” The band also worked in a cover of “Cokane in my Brain” by Jamaican artist Dillinger alongside staples like “Hier kommt Alex” and “Pushed Again.” The set also featured stylistic departures from standard punk norms, incorporating the ska flavor of “Laune der Natur” and the ballad “Nur zu Besuch.”

Upcoming Tour Dates Across Argentina

The mini-tour continues with stops outside the capital before concluding major dates. The German punk veterans play at Club Unión y Progreso in Tandil on October 5, move to the L2 Arena in Rosario two days later, and perform at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires on October 10.

Band members, hovering around age 60, have stated an intention to step away from active performance while they can still deliver high-energy shows. The current run relies on classic punk rock distortion and immediate audience connection rather than formal ceremonies or structured retrospectives.
