Amsterdam-Noord welcomed a new Dirk supermarket on March 11, 2026, located in Winkelcentrum Boven ‘t Y at Buikslotermeerplein 273. This marks the second Dirk location in Amsterdam-Noord and is part of the supermarket chain’s broader expansion strategy across the Netherlands.

Growth and Expansion

Dirk van den Broek has been experiencing growth, with an increasing market share attributed to its consistently low prices on both A-brands and house brands. According to Marcel Huizing, the general director of Dirk van den Broek, the company is actively seeking new locations for expansion throughout the country. “We see that more and more customers are finding Dirk,” Huizing stated. “This translates into growth of our market share and gives us the confidence to look for new locations.”

New Store Features

The new supermarket, situated in the former BCC-pand, spans nearly 1,300 square meters. Dirk announced the opening with a marketing campaign including advertisements on buses, flyers, online teasers, and posters. Customers visiting on the opening day were offered coffee and cake, with opportunities to win prizes. The first 1,000 customers over the following two weeks received daily surprises.
