[TV리포트=강해인 기자] ‘Harley Quinn’ Margot Robbie returns with an unconventional romantic film.
On the 11th, the romantic film ‘Wuthering Heights’ starring Margot Robbie will be released and meet audiences. This work is a story about the stormy love between Cathy (played by Margot Robbie) and Heathcliff (played by Jacob Elordi), who desperately want each other but have a harsh fate that prevents them from being together.
This movie is based on the novel of the same name. ‘Wuthering Heights’, written by Emily Brontë, is considered one of the three greatest tragedies in English literature, along with Shakespeare’s ‘King Lear’ and Herman Melville’s ‘Moby Dick’. When it was published in 1847, it was evaluated as too rough and bold, but in the 20th century, it was re-evaluated as a masterpiece of British literature. Director Emerald Fennel brought this work to the screen once again.
‘Wuthering Heights,’ newly ported in 2026, has received rave reviews since it was released through the world premiere on the 28th of last month. Audiences who saw the movie recommended watching the movie with comments such as “All emotions are swirling during and after watching it,” “I fell in love with this movie to the point of becoming obsessed with it,” “It’s an addictive movie that’s hard to get out of once you see it,” and “A very charming and delicate romantic tragedy.”
What charm does ‘Wuthering Heights,’ reinterpreted from a modern perspective, have?

The original ‘Wuthering Heights’ contains the tragedy that begins when Cathy and Heathcliff, who have been together since childhood, cannot connect due to the walls of social status and reality. The hurt and anger left behind by their misaligned love later spiral into obsession and madness, leading them to destruction. Many readers were fascinated by this work, which is considered the prototype of a romance depicting love, desire, and destruction, and thanks to this, it has been constantly recalled and remade into movies, dramas, plays, and musicals.
The film being released this time focuses more on Cathy and Heathcliff than on the tragic epic story of the two families, and is reborn under a bold adaptation that exudes love and desire. At the same time, the sensuous video that stimulates the five senses raised the temperature of the play and made the audience immerse themselves in the passionate love between the two characters. Director Emerald Fennell, who was in charge of directing, said, “‘Wuthering Heights’ has a charm that attracts and engulfs people. We worked hard to fully convey that intense feeling,” and said that the original’s unconventional characters and dopamine-stimulating relationships were faithfully translated to the screen.
Cathy and Heathcliff, who throw their whole bodies into the swirling emotions, are played by two of the hottest actors in Hollywood right now. First, the role of Cassie was played by Margot Robbie, who showed off her unrivaled aura by playing Harley Quinn in ‘Suicide Squad.’ Margot Robbie, who showed strong characters in ‘I, Tonya’, ‘Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood’, and ‘Bombshell: The Bombshell that Changed the World’, has expanded her influence by producing films with women’s voices such as ‘Promising Young Woman’ and ‘Barbie’.

Margot Robbie raised expectations by producing and starring in ‘Wuthering Heights’ at the same time. His character, Cassie, is a character who is torn between love and reality, but boldly walks straight ahead without hiding her feelings. Margot Robbie delicately expressed Cassie’s anxious inner self as she pursues love at the risk of everything, and at the same time, vividly depicted love burning like fire, heralding yet another breakthrough in her life’s character.
The role of Heathcliff, who is fatefully entangled with Cathy, was played by teen star Jacob Melody, who became known to the world through the movie ‘The Kissing Booth’ series. Last year, he broadened his acting spectrum by appearing as a monster in director Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’, and completed a fatal romance in ‘Wuthering Heights’ by wildly portraying Heathcliff, who has overwhelming physicality and sorrowful eyes.
In the early part of the play, Heathcliff shows pure love for Cathy, and Jacob Melody brings this to life with sweet eyes and a romantic mood. However, after the middle part, Heathcliff changes completely, adding tension to the play. When his love with Cathy breaks down, Heathcliff transforms into a character radiating madness, obsessed with revenge and obsession. Jacob Melody expressed this terrible character with cool yet captivating eyes that captivate the other person. And as he digests the sticky love in an animal-like manner, he also creates moments of dopamine bursting.

‘Wuthering Heights,’ a reinterpretation of a novel loved around the world by today’s hottest actors, will be available in theaters tomorrow (11th).
