Dorset Ranks Tenth-Lowest Across UK for Monthly Hair Loss Searches
Dorset recorded 4.3 hair loss searches per month for every 1,000 residents, placing it as the tenth-lowest region for online queries out of 46 evaluated areas across the UK. The figures come from an analysis of Google search data conducted by specialists at UK Hair Transplants, which evaluated search volumes across 20 distinct hair loss keywords between September 2025 and August 2026.
UK Hair Loss Searches Vary by Region
Nationally, terms ranging from “receding hairline” and “male pattern baldness” to treatments like “minoxidil”, “finasteride”, “Regaine”, “Alpecin”, “caffeine shampoo”, and “hair transplant” combine for more than 375,000 monthly searches across the UK population of 69.5 million. Dorset’s rate sits 20 per cent below the national average rate of 5.4 monthly searches per 1,000 people. At the bottom of the rankings, Cornwall recorded the lowest search frequency with 3.6 searches per 1,000 residents, alongside other low-volume areas including Lincolnshire, Shropshire, Suffolk, West Sussex, Cumbria, Nottinghamshire, Somerset, and Gloucestershire.
In stark contrast, major urban centres recorded the highest concentration of search interest. Across the United Kingdom, the capital ranked as the leading location for hair loss queries, registering 7.2 monthly searches for every 1,000 inhabitants. Additional regions featuring high search volumes consisted of Berkshire, Scotland, West Yorkshire, Bedfordshire, Merseyside, Tyne and Wear, Bristol, Greater Manchester, and the West Midlands.

Demographic Factors Behind Urban and Rural Search Patterns
Dr Adam Ali, a Hair Transplant Surgeon at UK Hair Transplants, explained that regional demographic differences drive the data. Major metropolitan zones feature high concentrations of males aged 20 to 39—the specific life stage when people frequently notice a receding hairline in photographs and begin conducting internet research. Conversely, lower-ranking rural regions tend to have older populations. According to Dr Ali, individuals living outside major towns do not necessarily possess fuller heads of hair; rather, a significant portion shed it years ago and have long since come to terms with it.
Medical Advice on Online Hair Loss Treatments
Dr Ali also cautioned individuals browsing the web for thinning hair solutions during the small hours to speak with a medical professional or expert prior to purchasing anything, noting that numerous internet-marketed remedies are completely ineffective. The methodology analysed Google Ads keyword data across England’s ceremonial counties, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Five counties—Rutland, City of London, Isle of Wight, Herefordshire, and Northumberland—were excluded from the dataset due to low search volume.
