Downtown Alliance hosts Lunch Box food fair at Fosun Plaza on Oct 7

Lower Manhattan Restaurant Lineup and Menu Offerings

Participating vendors bring a variety of cuisines to the plaza, with each $10 box including a protein and two sides. Sadie’s serves crispy fried chicken paired with coleslaw, cornbread, and salted maple butter, while Terravita Downtown offers roasted Lebanese lamb alongside hummus and za’atar naan. Sam Ping’s Chinese BBQ provides choices of cha siu with pork ribs or Cantonese roast chicken with chicken wings, served with jasmine rice and steamed Napa cabbage.

Additional vendors include JoJu Vietnamese with lemongrass chicken or caramel pork accompanied by rice and cabbage salad, and Tacos del Barrio serving pollo asado or al pastor burritos with rice, beans, cheese, and avocado. At Sammie Thai Hero Sandwiches, customers can order the Basil Chop, consisting of a sub filled with ground beef, provolone, and Thai basil sauce, accompanied by papaya slaw and tom yum-spiced macaroni salad. Honeybrains contributes chicken paillard, 62 William offers a teriyaki chicken box, and Urban Cove brings a burger slider with bacon-onion jam.

Desserts, Beverages, and Sustainability Measures

Rounding out the meal with sweets, Nio’s Shake provides a protein waffle crowned with strawberries, bananas, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce, accompanied by a miniature-sized shake. Good Coconut sells beverages separately, featuring water chestnut coconut boba tea and mango coconut milk.

Downtown Alliance president Jessica Lappin stated that the event serves as a way to sample Lower Manhattan’s newest culinary talent while supporting local businesses. The event operates rain or shine with free admission, requiring payment only for purchased food and drinks. Organizers structured Lunch Box as a zero-waste event, placing composting and recycling stations throughout Fosun Plaza for attendee use.
