Indonesian Embassy in Singapore reveals the latest news from the accident case that caused a 6 year old child from Indonesia to die after he and his mother were hit by a car in the Chinatown area of Singapore. The driver of the collision has now been named a suspect.
This was conveyed by the Representative of the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore for Information, Social and Cultural Affairs, Rizki Kusumastuti. So far, the Singapore Police are still investigating this case.
“Singapore Police Force is still continuing to investigate and deepen the incident. As far as the information we have received, the person concerned has been named a suspect,” said Rizki when contacted, Tuesday (10/2/2026).

Rizki said the driver was detained on the same day the incident occurred. He ensured that the legal process continued.
“Since the first day of the incident, the SPF has immediately detained the person concerned,” he said.
“However, according to legal regulations in Singapore, a person cannot be detained for more than 48 hours if there has not been a decision on detention by the Court,” continued Rizki.

Previously it was reported that a 6 year old child died from injuries after he and his mother were hit by a car in Singapore’s Chinatown. Both of them are tourists from Indonesia.
As reported by Malaymail citing a report by The Straits Times, Sunday (8/2), the tourist from Indonesia was initially hit by a car in the parking lot next to the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple on South Bridge Road at around 11.50 am on February 6.
Police said the 31-year-old mother and daughter were initially conscious when taken to Singapore General Hospital. However, the little girl later died from her injuries.
Photos of the incident, uploaded to the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page, show a man holding the little girl on the side of the road.
The photo caption states that the accident occurred when the driver turned out of the parking lot.
