Jakarta – There are still those who are reckless about speeding when riding a large SUV on teh toll road. it was an accident, the car spun and rolled over, as happened on the Jatibening toll road.
A large SUV like the Pajero Sport-Fortuner is not for speeding. Especially when driven on the toll road. The car tends to sway and is very risky to roll over.Like the accident experienced by a large SUV on the Jatibening toll road.
As seen in the dashcam video footage uploaded by the Instagram account info_pondokgede, initially there was a white car at high speed in lane 3. Not long after,another car appeared in lane 2 which was also speeding. The two cars then took lane 1 and squeezed onto the shoulder of the road to avoid the truck that was traveling in lane 2. Then a large SUV appeared at high speed appearing in lane 3.
The car suspected to be a Fortuner also followed two previous speeding cars. To avoid the truck,the large SUV wanted to take lane 1 near the shoulder of the road until it spun uncontrollably and hit the road divider and ended up rolling over.
Sony Susmana,a driving safety practitioner who is also the Director of Training Safety Defensive consultant Indonesia (SDCI),said that ladder frame SUVs such as the Fortuner and Pajero were not designed for speeding on toll roads. This is because a car with large dimensions can lose stability if driven at high speed on the toll road.
As evidenced by the accident on the Jatibening toll road, the car suddenly spun and went out of control until it hit the road divider. This is not the first time an accident involving a Fortuner-Pajero class SUV while speeding on a toll road has occurred. Previously there had been several similar incidents. But what is even more surprising is that there are still many similar SUV drivers driving their vehicles at high speeds.
Erreza Hardian, a driving safety expert and LSP EMI assessor, once revealed that driving cars like the Pajero Sport and Fortuner often makes drivers complacent. It has a lot of power, is responsive, and is fun to drive, so the driver doesn’t realize he’s driving it at high speed.
“Because (driving a car like the pajero) is really fun and the driver wouldn’t have realized that suddenly it was already 150 km/hour and it was tough to control.When the power steering is still light, you can get into the mindset of maneuvering to avoid it, somersaulting. If it’s a car with a high standard,the power steering will adjust so that if you make a surprising maneuver,the car doesn’t make extreme turns,” explained Erreza.
From the incident above, drivers of similar cars should be aware of not speeding on toll roads. Make sure your speed does not exceed the specified limit. Don’t let yourself become the next victim.
