Leitrim Native Robbie Cunningham of Amble to Tackle 50 Miles Challenge
One of Leitrim’s greatest exports is coming home and is all set to take part in one of the biggest events of the year! Robbie Cunningham of Irish folk band Amble is thrilled to be returning to Leitrim for the 50 Miles Challenge. In a video posted to Leitrim’s GAA Facebook page, he excitedly discusses his return.
Robbie and the band have supported Hozier in America and will support Dermot Kennedy and Ed Sheeran next year.
He said that participating in the challenge is a deeply personal experience. “I can’t wait to get out with my friends and family, get up and get walking, and talk to the people I’ve missed the most. Amble is an Irish folk band formed in 2022.The band members are Robbie Cunningham,Oisín mccaffrey,and Ross McNerney.

The band originally started as a duo with Robbie and Oisín in 2022, aiming to play cover versions in pubs for free pints. Ross joined due to his skills on the mandolin and banjo.
After a concert in Leitrim, Ross suggested the band pursue music seriously. At the time, Oisín worked as a data scientist and programmer at Pfizer, Robbie was a primary school teacher in Terenure, and Ross was a secondary school teacher in Longford.
