Dualog Launches Workspace Platform With Dualog Chat
Dualog has launched Dualog Chat, a secure messaging service designed to bring shipboard and shore-based communications into a company-controlled environment, Smart Maritime Network reported. The platform is the first component of Workspace by Dualog, which aims to address fragmented communication between crews and shore teams while mitigating the use of personal messaging applications for office contact.
Vessel and Role-Based Access Controls
Dualog Chat maintains message histories against specific roles, allowing officers joining a vessel to access previous conversations and operational context. Shore teams can send messages to a particular rank across an entire fleet or contact individual crew members directly. The service supports text messages, voice notes, and audio and video calls over available maritime connections. Within the platform, office personnel have a unified hub for confidential data and operational talks, spanning critical elements like port guidance and pricing figures.
Personnel use distinct personal accounts instead of generic credentials, and connectivity with crew administration platforms dynamically adjusts permissions whenever crew members board or leave ships. These identity and access controls support traceability and requirements for unique identities and controlled access set out by the IMO and IACS. Silje Moan, Chief Commercial Officer at Dualog, stated that the service reflects how shipping operates by organizing communication around the vessel, the rank, and the rotation. She added that this structure helps crews retain context through each handover while keeping critical information within the company.
Deployment Across Web and Mobile Devices
Dualog Chat will be available through web browsers as well as iOS and Android applications. Smart Ship Hub separately reports that machinery condition health monitoring systems rely on telemetered high-frequency data from equipment like main engines and diesel generators to provide predictive diagnostics and shore-based engineering verification.
