Dyn Media to Modernize HBL TV, Expanding International Handball Streaming
Germany’s Dyn Media has secured a deal with the Handball-Bundesliga (HBL) to modernize the league’s international streaming service, HBL TV, beginning in mid-2026. This partnership aims to enhance the global reach of German handball by leveraging Dyn Media’s technology and infrastructure.
Expanding International Reach
HBL TV currently offers content in over 100 countries without dedicated media partnerships. Dyn Media will add an international Over-The-Top (OTT) infrastructure to the platform, integrating it with its Content Desk. This integration will automate the transfer of matches and highlights from both the HBL and the 2. HBL (second-tier league) to the platform.
Automated Content Delivery
The fresh system will automate event creation and live stream execution, reducing the need for manual intervention. This streamlined process is designed to improve efficiency and scalability.
Dyn Media’s Technological Contributions
According to Andreas Heyden, CEO of Dyn Media, international visibility relies on robust technological infrastructure. The collaboration will focus on developing a scalable platform that combines reach, efficiency, and innovation. Dyn Media aims to equip sports organizations with the technology needed to manage their content globally in a sustainable manner.
Existing Partnership and Technological Solutions
This agreement builds upon an existing partnership where Dyn Media has already provided the HBL with several technology solutions. These include a fully digitized archive of matches dating back to 1991, AI-based systems for automated content creation, and the Content Desk platform for content management, distribution, and monetization.
HBL’s Perspective
Frank Bohmann, Managing Director of the Handball-Bundesliga, emphasized Dyn Media’s innovative contributions, ranging from digital archiving and AI applications to content distribution. He stated that the HBL TV platform’s development is a crucial step in expanding the league’s international presence and ensuring its technological future.
Dyn Media’s Handball Portfolio
Dyn Media has a significant presence in handball broadcasting, holding exclusive rights to Europe’s EHF Champions League, EHF Champions League Women, and EHF European League competitions through 2030. The Handball-Bundesliga and the domestic Bundesliga competitions in Germany are also part of Dyn’s portfolio.
Dyn Media’s Restructuring
Recently, Dyn Media announced a restructuring into two sister companies: Dyn Sport and Dyn Media. Dyn Sport will focus on acquiring and marketing rights directly to consumers, while Dyn Media will concentrate on broadcasting operations, content production, and developing editorial and technological solutions for sports organizations and media brands.
