The Philadelphia Eagles are forced to retool along the offensive line on the fly by trading two-time Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens. The trade sends Jurgens and a 2027 seventh-round pick to Baltimore in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter via Sportingnews.
With Lane Johnson having retired to focus on his mental health and Landon Dickerson injured, the Eagles face a major mid-season shake-up. In an impromptu news conference, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman pushed back against the notion that trading Jurgens signals the team is giving up on the current season.
Ravens Need Centers as Philadelphia Sheds Massive Contract
Roseman noted that the Ravens had lost three centers and that talks progressed over a 24-hour period. Obviously the Ravens have been looking for a center.
They lost three centers.
I speak to [Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta] a lot.
Originally I told him it wasn’t something we were looking to do.
Over the last 24 hours it got to a point where we felt like it could be a win-win.
Beyond draft compensation, the move allows Philadelphia to shed a massive contract. Jurgens was the fourth highest-paid center in the NFL and was under contract through the 2030 season, having struggled at left guard following a chronic back injury sustained during the team’s run to Super Bowl LIX in 2024.

Drew Kendall Takes over Starting Center Role
The organization has expressed confidence in Drew Kendall stepping into the starting center role, while second-year interior lineman Willie Lampkin prepares to step up at left guard. Roseman stated that Kendall is doing a nice job
and added that the team has a young player there.
While Roseman insisted that Johnson’s retirement and the Jurgens trade belong in separate buckets, the moves leave the team managing short-term injuries alongside high expectations for the current season. Meanwhile, the added draft capital positions the franchise with additional assets for future drafts.
Willie Lampkin Prepares for Opportunity at Left Guard
Willie Lampkin, the second-year interior lineman from the University of North Carolina, stated that he was excited for his opportunity.
Eagles left tackle Jordan Mailata mentioned that he believes he managed one day of work alongside Lampkin at left guard during training camp, noting the rapid pace of recent events. Honestly, after this week, training camp feels like it was last year, mate,
Mailata remarked. Roseman also expressed that he was excited
to eventually welcome Landon Dickerson back from injured reserve when reviewing the team’s available options on the line.
