East Haven Police Charge Massachusetts Man in Attack on Cruiser During Street Takeover
EAST HAVEN, CT — A 20-year-traditional man from Somerville, Massachusetts, has been arrested and charged in connection with an “unprovoked attack” on a police cruiser during a street takeover in East Haven in November 2025.
Liam Timothy Walsh was taken into custody by the Massachusetts State Police Fugitive Task Force on March 18 and transported to the East Haven Police Department on Tuesday, according to police. He is being held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
Incident Details
The incident occurred just before 2:30 a.m. When officers responded to reports of dozens of vehicles blocking Foxon Road, with some drivers performing burnouts and setting off fireworks, Capt. Joseph M. Murgo, the East Haven Police Department’s Public Information Officer, stated.
Upon arrival, the responding officer was confronted by several masked individuals. One individual sprayed the cruiser with a fire extinguisher and then threw the extinguisher at the vehicle although others ignited fireworks, Murgo described.
According to Murgo, individuals then climbed onto the occupied cruiser, kicking it before fleeing and returning to taunt officers. The vehicles involved were later seen in surrounding towns, seemingly attempting to provoke similar incidents in other jurisdictions.
Investigation and Arrest
The East Haven Police Department Investigative Services Division, led by Detective Sergeant Jeffrey Vailette, conducted an extensive investigation, leading to the identification of several suspects and the securing of multiple arrest warrants.
With the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police Revere Barracks, Walsh was identified as a suspect through videos showing him jumping on a police cruiser while filming himself, Murgo said. Vailette then secured an arrest warrant for Walsh.
Ongoing Investigation
Murgo stated that additional suspects have been identified and that the investigation remains active and ongoing, with further arrests anticipated.
“The East Haven Police Department will continue to thoroughly investigate incidents of this nature and hold those responsible accountable,” Murgo said.
Charges
Walsh has been charged with:
- Two counts of first-degree criminal mischief
- Second-degree breach of peace
- Inciting injury to persons or property
- Unlawful assembly
