The Security Conference continues today in Munich. Rubio’s speech awaited. Merz’s warning yesterday: «A gap has opened between the US and the EU; the Maga culture is not ours; the post-war order no longer exists and the Atlantic Alliance must be re-founded”, said the German Chancellor

Frederiksen: “NATO must protect the Arctic permanently”

“We are satisfied that NATO is now involved in Arctic security and we have asked for NATO to be permanently present in and around Greenland. Arctic Sentinel is a good thing. But we also need to have NATO’s capability targets updated so that they include the Arctic, this is not the case now. The capabilities that are needed still need to be produced and some of the lines are in the US and have not yet started work.” Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said this in Munich.

Zelensky: “The USA offers guarantees for 15 years, we want more than 20”

“Today we have an offer from the American side for 15 years (of security guarantees). We want to have more than 20 years, 30, 50. We will see what the administration and Congress will do.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this while meeting journalists on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. Ukrainska Pravda reports it.

Zelensky, I will see Rubio in Munich, change Moscow negotiator a tactic

“Today I will meet with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and later this evening I will hold a phone call with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. My chief negotiator and former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov speaks with them several times a day.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, as reported by the Guardian. Zelensky added that he also met with a delegation of American senators and underlined the importance of dialogue with the United States through all possible channels, “so that no one can say that the Ukrainians are slowing down the negotiations”. Regarding next week’s Geneva talks, the Ukrainian president said he was surprised by Russia’s decision to change the head of its delegation after the first two meetings. “I see this move as a possible attempt to delay decisions, but I count on the Americans to continue talks and not allow Russia to reopen already resolved issues,” he said. Zelenskyy also confirmed that he is still seeking a political commitment to allow Ukraine to join the European Union, “ideally by 2027, as part of security guarantees. We need to be ready, prepare everything. Technically Ukraine needs to be ready in 2027, but the accession date depends on all these dialogues with the 27 member states.”
