Violent Altercation at Kebab Shop in Echterdingen Leads to Psychiatric Evaluation

Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany – A violent incident unfolded in Echterdingen on Friday evening, resulting in injuries to two men and the admission of one to a psychiatric clinic, according to police reports.

Details of the Incident

Police were called to a main street in Echterdingen around 9:45 p.m. On Friday following reports of a fight near a kebab shop. Upon arrival, officers found a 31-year-old man lying on the ground, covered in blood, being restrained by a 51-year-old man, also injured, and a witness.

Investigations revealed that the 31-year-old had allegedly struck the glass entrance door of the snack bar with a vacuum cleaner pipe around 9:40 p.m. When the 51-year-old owner of the snack bar attempted to disarm the man, a physical altercation ensued. During the scuffle, the 31-year-old reportedly stabbed the 51-year-old in the thigh with a kitchen knife. The 51-year-old then retaliated by striking the back of the 31-year-old’s head with the vacuum cleaner tube.

Bystanders and a witness intervened to prevent further escalation of the violence until police arrived at the scene.

Medical Attention and Aftermath

Both injured men were transported to separate hospitals for treatment. Following outpatient care, the 31-year-old was admitted to a specialist psychiatric clinic for evaluation and care.

The incident remains under investigation by local authorities.
