The Hong Duc University Student Council strictly adheres to the criteria of the “Five Good Students” – namely good ethics, good academic performance, good physical fitness, dedicated volunteerism and good integration – and has increased its efforts to promote this title in its branches and recruit new members every academic year. At the same time, numerous activities were launched to provide students with a conducive environment for their development, including cultural, artistic and sports competitions, participation in programs such as “Together for the Community” and the “Pink Sunday” initiative. In order to become a “Five Good Student”, in addition to participating in such activities and moral development, academic success plays a crucial role and is considered the top priority for every student.

According to Vu Van Duan, President of the Student Council of Hong Duc University: “In order to achieve the goal of academic excellence, the University Student Council has promoted and diversified activities to support student learning and scientific research. These include organizing science competitions and establishing and developing academic clubs such as the English Club, the Budding Entrepreneurs Club, the Book and Action Club and the Young Talents Club. This creates an environment in which students seek personal development and academic excellence In order to ensure the criterion of “good physical fitness”, the student council, in collaboration with the university’s youth organization, regularly organizes sports activities such as table tennis, badminton, football and volleyball – especially on public holidays – which encourage numerous students to take part. Martial arts and dance clubs have also been established and are successfully run, creating a healthy environment in which students can practice and develop important life skills.”

Through concrete and practical measures as well as the dedication, creativity and positive participation of each student, Hong Duc University has received the following awards since 2021: two students were awarded the title of “5 Good Students” at the central level, one student was awarded the “January Star” award, 60 students were awarded the title of “5 Good Students” at the provincial level, 16 groups were awarded the title of “5 Good Students” at the provincial level, and 403 students were awarded the title of “5 Good Students”. University level. These outstanding winners of the “5 Good Students” and “January Star” awards are honored at traditional student festivals and thus serve as a role model for other students to strive for excellence and continually improve.

The above results show that the “Five Good Students” movement is spreading widely and positively influencing students’ awareness, actions and self-improvement. Through this movement, each student has realized their motivation for learning and self-improvement, their creative abilities and their desire for a fulfilling lifestyle; They have a desire to contribute, strive for entrepreneurship, and volunteer in student projects for the community. Student Nguyen Phuong Anh, Class K26, English Didactics, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Hong Duc University, reports: “The title ‘Five Good Students’ is more than just a title; it also represents a process of self-development, self-improvement and self-perfection. By fulfilling each criterion, I have also acquired important soft skills for my studies and my life. In particular, the criterion ‘good academic performance’ has helped me to become more self-confident to become my subject of study, to meet the demands of professional life and to integrate myself into the world of work after graduation.”

The path to becoming a “five model student” is long and arduous. But it is not just the title itself that is more important, but the personal development of each individual student and the recognition they receive in society. The Central Committee of the Vietnamese Student Association also wants to convey this message with this initiative. According to Vu Van Duan, president of the Hong Duc University Students’ Association, the “Five Model Students” initiative is both a challenge and an opportunity for every student to prove themselves while studying. Many students at the university have personally matured through this initiative. Based on this role and importance, the Hong Duc University Students’ Union will continue to be a place of meeting and exchange, a place that awakens dreams, promotes ideals, develops the intellect and helps raise generations of morally integrity and professionally competent students with knowledge, strength of character and desire to contribute.
