Timberwolves Extend Winning Streak, Top Clippers 94-88

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Anthony Edwards scored 31 points and Donte DiVincenzo added 18 as the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 94-88 on Thursday night, extending their recent surge. The Timberwolves improved to 5-1 since February 9th and 3-1 since the All-Star break with the victory.

Edwards Seals the Win

Returning to the site of the All-Star Game where he was named MVP, Edwards secured the win for Minnesota with a step-back 3-pointer over two defenders, giving the Timberwolves a 92-88 lead with 42.9 seconds remaining. He finished the game shooting 12 of 24 from the floor.

Team Effort for Minnesota

Jaden McDaniels and Ayo Dosunmu each contributed 12 points, while Rudy Gobert pulled down 13 rebounds for the Timberwolves. Minnesota is now 2-0 on a three-game road trip.

Clippers Struggle Without Leonard

The Clippers, playing without Kawhi Leonard due to an ankle injury, struggled offensively, posting a season-low 38 points in the first half. Derrick Jones Jr. Led Los Angeles with 18 points, and Bennedict Mathurin added 14. Kris Dunn scored 11 points.

Los Angeles briefly led in the third quarter, going up by six points and taking a 68-63 lead into the fourth quarter. However, Minnesota regained the lead with Edwards’ drive and reverse layup at 7:40, making the score 76-74.

Despite a close first half that ended with Minnesota leading 44-38, the Clippers couldn’t overcome their offensive struggles. Los Angeles shot 40.5% from the floor, including a dismal 18.2% (4 of 22) in the second quarter. Minnesota shot 43.4% overall.

Looking Ahead

The Timberwolves will continue their road trip against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. The Clippers will host the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night.
