Egypt’s Prime Minister Highlights Oil and Gas Investments, Infrastructure Progress in Beheira Tour

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized Egypt’s efforts to attract international energy investments and accelerate infrastructure projects during a tour of Beheira governorate on Saturday, according to official statements. The visit included inspections of natural gas facilities, the International Coastal Road, and Edku International Park, reflecting the government’s focus on energy security and development.

Egypt’s Oil and Gas Sector: A Priority for Investment

Madbouly reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to positioning itself as a regional energy hub, stating, “Egypt is committed to creating an attractive investment environment for global energy companies and maximizing the benefits of the country’s advanced energy infrastructure.” The prime minister’s remarks came during a visit to Rashid Petroleum Company’s Deepwater West Delta gas production sites, a key area for Mediterranean natural gas extraction.

Egypt’s Oil and Gas Sector: A Priority for Investment

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi highlighted that the Deepwater West Delta region is one of Egypt’s most significant gas production areas, with development phases 10 and 11 completed in 2024 and 2025. These phases added new production capacity, helping to offset natural declines in output. Badawi also noted that Egypt settled all outstanding payments to foreign energy partners by June 10, 2024, a move he described as boosting investor confidence.

Shell Egypt’s Chairperson Dalia El-Gabry reiterated the company’s 110-year presence in the country, citing operations in the West Delta, the Idku liquefaction complex, and exploration projects. Petronas Egypt President Hany Essmat and KUFPEC’s Abdulaziz Al-Mousawi also expressed interest in expanding investments, with KUFPEC noting its involvement in the West Mina gas field, set to start production in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Infrastructure Development: Linking Economy and Mobility

The International Coastal Road, a 800-kilometer project spanning seven governorates, was another focus of Madbouly’s tour. Officials stated that ongoing upgrades aim to improve traffic safety, increase capacity, and facilitate freight movement through dedicated lanes for heavy trucks. The road connects major Mediterranean ports, including Alexandria and Damietta, and supports industrial zones and new urban communities like New Mansoura.

Madbouly also visited Edku International Park, a EU-GIZ-funded facility offering cultural, educational, and recreational programs. The prime minister stressed the importance of youth development, citing activities such as robotics, clean energy workshops, and sports programs. “Investing in children is central to Egypt’s human development strategy,” he said, interacting with students participating in summer initiatives.

The visit underscored Egypt’s dual focus on energy and infrastructure as pillars of economic growth, with government officials and international partners highlighting progress and future plans.
