Geibel sustained the injury during the Eisbären’s 5-2 away victory against the Dresdner Eislöwen on March 4, 2026, and will undergo surgery, the club announced. Despite missing several months earlier in the season due to injury, the 23-year-classic defenseman still managed to appear in 29 DEL games, registering four goals and three assists. He is likewise a member of the German national team.

Growing Injury Concerns for the Eisbären

Geibel joins forwards Blaine Byron and Patrick Khodorenko, who had previously been ruled out for the rest of the season. The team’s injury woes extend beyond these three players, with a total of six professionals currently unavailable.

Goaltender Jake Hildebrand suffered an injury during the recent Olympic break. Defenders Mitch Reinke and forward Lean Bergmann were announced as being sidelined “until further notice” on Tuesday, bringing the total number of unavailable players to six.
