President Iliana Yotova has hinted that she will have a veto on changes to the election rules.

And before the representatives of the APS, and before “majesty” she made her position clear that “all Bulgarian citizens must be able to exercise their right to vote and not be restricted therein”.

In addition, as vice president until recently, Yotova was heavily involved with the Bulgarian communities abroadwhich is why it seems logical to veto changes to the Electoral Code, which limit the number of sections abroad to 20.

APS asked Yotova to veto the Electoral Code

According to Hairi Sadakov, the goal is to check whether the parties will realize their mistake

Not only from political parties, but also from organizations of Bulgarians abroad appeals were made to her for revisiting the ruleswhich will be voted on in the upcoming early vote.

There is a high probability Iliana Yotova’s first veto to be successfulespecially since the new BSP leader Krum Zarkov said he would try to persuade the party’s MPs to stand behind the veto and to rethink their positionafter some of them supported the reduction of electoral divisions abroad.

From today’s comments on the subject it seems increasingly likely that the Electoral Code will be returned for a new debate in Parliament.
