After a month of parking his EV in freezing temperatures, the battery only lost 10% of its charge, dispelling fears of a dead battery upon return. The EV’s battery also self-recharges the 12V starter battery, eliminating a common issue with ICE vehicles in cold weather. Fajtl reported minimal battery degradation after four years of operation.

The Driving Experience and Long-Term Value

The driving experience itself was a major benefit. The quiet operation of the EV significantly reduced driver fatigue on long journeys. Fajtl also found that the overall cost of ownership, even with higher initial purchase price (650,000 crowns for a three-year-old model), was comparable to or lower than that of a similarly equipped ICE vehicle, factoring in fuel, maintenance, and taxes.
