Boeing Expands German Team with Electrical Engineer Role in Seat Integration

Boeing is expanding its operations in Hamburg, Germany, and is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join its Seat Integration Team. This role focuses on the certification and integration of passenger seats for all Boeing aircraft models, both for initial line fit and retrofit applications.

Role and Responsibilities

The Electrical Engineer will collaborate with customers to define and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements and solutions for commercial aircraft passenger seats. Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing data from suppliers to approve seat integration from an electrical perspective, including drawings, diagrams, and qualification data.
  • Defining, drafting, and reviewing documentation for the design and certification of aircraft seating products, encompassing wiring diagrams, 3D Electrical Installation Models, Qualification Test Plans and Reports, System Safety Analysis, and Equipment Qualification.
  • Ensuring compliance with Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) standards.
  • Collaborating with the Office of Airworthiness and regulatory authorities to ensure safe and compliant cabin modifications.
  • Working closely with the aircraft Type-Certificate holder for seamless seating product integration.
  • Supervising supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Avionics, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Manufacturing Engineering) or a higher degree in engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in the aerospace industry, preferably in a role involving the design, integration, and/or certification of interior products on commercial aircraft.

Preferred Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience within a Design or Production Organization (EASA or FAA approved).
  • Current or recent appointment as a Design Review or Verification Engineer (DVE/DRE) with terms of approval relevant to the electrical discipline.
  • Experience with aircraft interior modification programs, particularly the electrical aspects of seat integration, with a high attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and experience working with RTCA DO-160, RTCA DO-178C, RTCA DO-254, and System Safety Assessment.
  • Experience leading complex projects, including schedule and financial assessments, resource allocation, risk management, and stakeholder influence.
  • Willingness to mentor and coach less experienced staff.
  • Proficiency with OEM data systems and tools such as Catia V5 / V6, ENOVIA, IVT, and AutoCAD.
