Eljesa Bajra Secures Silver at German U21 Judo Championship

Eljesa Bajra, representing the Weil Haltingen Judo Club, won a silver medal in the over 78 kg weight class at the German U21 Individual Championship held in Potsdam on March 16, 2026. This achievement adds to her growing list of accomplishments in the sport.

Path to the Final

Bajra demonstrated her skill and determination throughout the competition, securing victories against Serafina Lange of Sportfreunde Kladow and Erin Drzysga from Sport Union Annen. These wins propelled her into the semi-finals, where she triumphed over Malin Nieweiler of FC Stella Bevergern – a competitor who had defeated her at the previous year’s German championship.

Championship Bout

In the final match, Bajra faced Peppa Plöhnert from SV Halle, who is one year her senior. Despite a strong performance, Bajra was defeated by Plöhnert, earning her the silver medal.

Consistent Success

This silver medal marks Bajra’s third consecutive medal at the German Championships. She previously secured a bronze medal in the U18 category in 2024 and another bronze medal in her U21 debut in 2025. Bajra has been training at the Budo Club Karlsruhe performance center for the past four years to optimize her development.
