Ellie Hildreth Secures First Collegiate Win at Briars Creek Invitational

JOHN’S ISLAND, S.C. – NC State women’s golf freshman Ellie Hildreth claimed her first collegiate victory at the Briars Creek Invitational, finishing the tournament at 6-under par. The NC State team finished fourth overall with a score of 2-over 578.

Hildreth’s Championship Performance

Despite the tournament being shortened to 36 holes due to weather, Hildreth delivered a stellar performance. She carded a 6-under 138 (68-70) to secure the solo win. Her first-round 68 was a career low, and she maintained her lead through a solid final round featuring six birdies and 10 pars.

Hildreth led the field in par 3s average (2.75) and par 5s average (4.50), and recorded the most birdies with 10 throughout the tournament. NC State Athletics

Team Results and Individual Performances

NC State tied for fourth place with a 2-over 578 (286-292). Marie Eline Madsen, ranked No. 19 nationally, continued her consistent season with a 1-under 143 (72-71) to tie for 11th. Vania Simont finished at even par, securing a 16th-place finish with two rounds of even par.

Freshmen Elizabeth Sullivan and Lindsay McGrath finished 9-over and 11-over respectively.

Tournament Overview

The Briars Creek Invitational featured a competitive field, including No. 12 UCF, which placed second, and No. 43 Michigan State, which finished third.
