Security cameras operated by the private firm Embed were damaged by adolescents in Maipú on Friday afternoon, marking the third vandalism incident targeting the company’s surveillance equipment this month.

The latest incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. When three teenagers walking east on Agustín Álvarez Street kicked a soccer ball deliberately into a security camera at the intersection with Tucumán Street, causing irreversible damage that required replacement, according to company sources.

The suspects were described in a judicial complaint filed via the Virtual Fiscal Office: one wore a black horizontally striped shirt with white pants featuring red and blue details, another wore an orange shirt and blue pants and the third wore a red sleeveless top and black pants.

Embed stated the act constitutes vandalism that disrupts the normal operation of a surveillance system intended for neighborhood security, and they have offered a reward for information leading to identification and reporting of the minors involved.

This follows two prior incidents: on Wednesday night, three individuals from the Parque Norte neighborhood damaged a dome camera at the area’s entrance using a blunt object, causing it to detach and lose signal; and during the early hours of Monday, two individuals in dark clothing shot and destroyed a surveillance dome on 4th Street near a pedestrian walkway in the El Rosal neighborhood with a firearm.

In all cases, Embed filed formal complaints and judicial authorities have intervened, though no arrests have been reported in connection with any of the incidents.

Why are security cameras being targeted in Maipú?

The source does not specify motives behind the attacks, only describing them as acts of vandalism that impair surveillance functionality critical to area security.

What actions has Embed taken following the camera damage?

Embed has filed judicial complaints, provided video evidence to assist in identifying the perpetrators, and offered a reward for information leading to the identification and reporting of those responsible for the damages.
